Ideas/Influences
After hearing what our target audience had to say I started looking into what we could possibly include in the advert. I went onto youtube to gain some inspiration and to see what was out there already. There were a number of different types of stop motion animation we could use such as pixilation, claymation, brickmation and paper animation. These are some of the films that influenced me:
I really enjoyed this advert because it was original and the type of animation is unique and very modern. I think if we added pixilation into our advert it would interest our target audience and would make it more interesting for them. One thing this advert doesn't include is humour which is something highly enjoyed by teenagers as found out in our primary research.

Influences: During the research process of creating our advert we were influenced by many existing films made using stop motion animation by using sweets similar to Smarties such as skittles and M&M's. It was good to see what sort of films were out there already and how we could make ours slightly more original. To get inspiration for our idea we looked on YouTube to find what other videos were out there already and how the final film looks when completed. We looked for different sweet adverts and also other projects people of our age had created. I found some very interesting clips that gave me a lot of ideas for the storyboard.

This short clip I thought was very interesting because it is so bright and colourful however the animation became a bit tedious as it went along. I think we could use a technique like this for a short amount of our advert because it looks really cool and I think our target audience would like it because they said they wanted something colourful in the focus group.

This is another film that influenced us when coming up with ideas. I think this is a really imaginative film because it is full of great ideas and techniques. I like the way they use their fingers to change the colours of the M&M's because it looks quite magical and it is a burst of colour. I think our target audience would like this because it is an original idea that we could potentially use in our animation. The only problem with this animation is that the lighting changed throughout the whole film and also the background was scratched.

Here is a storyboard of an idea that I had using the pixilation style:

As we are creating a stop motion aniamtion to advertise smarties I began coming up with ideas about how we could advertise the product in an interesting and unique way.

Here are some of my ideas:

Slogan Ideas

A taste that leaves you mesmerised.
The taste that makes you dream.
Treat your taste buds.
A small sweet with a big flavour.
See the colour, taste the joy.
Sweet Dreams.
Brighten up your world.
A smart sweet as well as a treat.

These are all my slogan ideas, I thought they worked well with the style and concept of our advert and they also help support it. The ones highlighted in red are the favourite slogans picked in our group because we felt they were the most catchy and also the most relevant.

These are some slogans that exist already from popular brands:
Have a break have a Kit Kit - Kit Kats
Taste the rainbow - Skittles
Isn't life juicy - Starburst
Get some nuts - Snickers
Only smarties have the answer - Smarties

These sweet slogans are from popular brands, therefore in order to entise our target audience we need to come up with a catchy slogan that supports our story. The one highlighted in red is the current Smarties slogan however we would like to come up with our own catchy smarties slogan. I think the existing slogan is good because it is like a pun about smarties actually being smart and being the only answer. The smarties brand have used a play on words to give an inanimate object (smarties) a human quality by saying they have the answer.

These are my initial ideas that I drew on paper just as a draft before I began the stroy board. I came up with lots of different ways the Smarties could be animated because we wanted the animation to be original and inaginative, so I came up with a brainstorm of ideas.
